You've never spoken a word and that's exactly where we start. You will start with the foundation every Igbo speaker stands on — the sounds, the tones, and the alphabet. From your very first lesson you will understand why Igbo sounds the way it does, how the three tones work, and how to greet someone properly for the first time in your mother tongue. By the end of this level you will have a working vocabulary of 50 core words, the ability to introduce yourself, greet family members, name everyday objects, and understand the cultural context behind what you are saying.
You understand more than you can say — let's close that gap. You will build on the listening ear you already have and turn passive understanding into active speech. This level focuses heavily on sentence construction — how Igbo sentences are built, how verbs work, how to express want, need, feeling, and direction. You will learn how to hold a real conversation in the most common everyday situations: at a family gathering, on a call with a relative in Nigeria, during a celebration, and in moments of emotion — love, gratitude, disagreement, and comfort.
You can speak — now learn to speak like you mean it. This level is about fluency, expression, and cultural mastery. You will expand into complex sentence structures, learn how to use tone for emotional emphasis, and develop the kind of natural rhythm that makes Igbo speech feel alive. You will engage with authentic Igbo content — folktales, oral tradition, and traditional poetry and learn how to navigate real cultural situations with confidence and respect. By the end of this level you will not just speak Igbo. You will sound like someone who belongs to it.
